MS, CFP®AIF®

Brian D. Holmes, MS, CFP®, AIF®, is the Chief Executive Officer of Signature Estate & Investment Advisors (SEIA) and one of the firm’s four founding partners. With more than 40 years of experience in investment management, Brian has helped shape SEIA into a national, advisor-led firm built around long-term client relationships, collaborative teams, and comprehensive wealth management.

Brian also leads an independent private practice whose team serves more than 300 clients. His work is centered on helping affluent individuals and families navigate the financial decisions that become more complex as wealth grows. Investment management is an important part of the conversation, but it is rarely the only consideration. Retirement, taxes, estate and legacy planning, risk management, liquidity needs, family priorities, and charitable goals can all influence a client’s financial strategy.

A defining element of Brian’s approach is SEIA’s team-based service model. He believes clients should have the benefit of a coordinated advisory team and continuity of service as their needs evolve over time. This perspective guides both his private practice and his leadership of SEIA’s broader platform, which brings together financial planning, investment management, estate and tax planning, and other wealth-management resources.

As CEO, Brian is focused on building the capabilities that allow advisors to serve clients with depth, consistency, and a long-term perspective. He has led SEIA’s national growth strategy, including the expansion of its advisor platform, executive leadership team, and acquisition efforts. In 2026, Team Holmes was recognized by InvestmentNews as a 5‑Star Wealth Management Team.

Brian’s longstanding industry recognition includes induction into the Barron’s Hall of Fame in 2019, an honor for advisors who appeared in Barron’s Top 100 Advisor Rankings at least 10 times. He was the only advisor from Los Angeles and Orange Counties named to Barron’s Top 100 Independent Advisors for 11 consecutive years, from 2008 through 2018. Worth Magazine also named Brian among the nation’s Top 250 Financial Advisors in 2008 and featured him in its Leading Wealth & Legal Advisors lists from 2010 through 2019.

Beyond his client and firm leadership responsibilities, Brian has served on the Schwab Institutional Advisory Board and the UCLA Department of Economics Board of Visitors. He has also been a guest lecturer in UCLA’s undergraduate Economics and Investments courses and has spoken for executive groups, corporations, and universities.

Brian earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with an emphasis in Business Administration, from UCLA in 1983. He earned a Master of Science degree in Financial Planning from the College for Financial Planning in 1994, became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional in 1988, and earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation in 2011. He is also a licensed insurance agent, California Insurance License #0657377.

A longtime Malibu resident, Brian lives with his wife and remains active in charitable efforts throughout Southern California.
