David L. Johnson, CFP®, AIF®, is a Managing Senior Partner at Signature Estate & Investment Advisors (SEIA). With more than 30 years of experience in financial services, David provides comprehensive wealth management guidance to corporate executives, business owners, multigenerational families, trustees, and organizations.

For clients with complex financial lives, managing investments is only one part of the picture. Executive compensation, business interests, retirement income, taxes, estate plans, family responsibilities, and risk-management needs can all influence the decisions made today. David helps clients bring these moving parts together into a coordinated strategy that reflects both their current priorities and long-term goals.

David specializes in investment management, retirement planning, tax-aware planning, estate planning, risk management, and wealth preservation. He is particularly experienced in helping executives and business owners evaluate complex compensation packages and make informed financial decisions as their careers, businesses, and family circumstances evolve.

His approach is grounded in the belief that a financial plan should help clients understand not only what is important, but also what may be possible. David works with clients to balance the goals they have for life today with the preparation needed for retirement, legacy, and the people who depend on them.

David’s insights have been sought by CNBC, InvestmentNews, Kiplinger, and other financial-media outlets. He has been named to Forbes’ Best-in-State Wealth Advisors list each year from 2022 through 2026. In 2026, he was named an InvestmentNews 5‑Star Financial Planner and an InvestmentNews Excellence Awardee for Advisor of the Year, Regional Southeast.

A Northern Virginia native, David earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from George Mason University, with concentrations in Investment Management and Corporate Finance. He completed the Financial Planning Certificate program at George Washington University and earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification in 2001.
