Principal Managing Partner

CFP®, AIF®

Mark E. Copeland, CFP®, AIF®, is a Principal Managing Partner at Signature Estate & Investment Advisors (SEIA) and one of the firm’s four founding partners. Since entering the securities and insurance industry in 1988, Mark has helped affluent individuals, families, athletes, and corporations make informed decisions about the investment, risk-management, retirement, and legacy considerations that shape long-term wealth.

Mark’s approach is grounded in the belief that financial decisions should be guided by a client’s goals and circumstances, not by market headlines, political noise, or short-term emotion. He helps clients connect investment planning with the broader questions that influence their financial lives, including liquidity needs, retirement goals, tax considerations, insurance, family responsibilities, and estate-planning priorities.

His work is particularly focused on investment planning, comprehensive wealth management, and risk management for clients with substantial and often complex financial lives. Mark helps clients develop a disciplined strategy that can adapt as their careers, family needs, business interests, and long-term objectives evolve. As a licensed independent insurance broker and partner with Signature Comprehensive Insurance Services, LLC, he can incorporate insurance planning into the broader wealth-management conversation when appropriate.

As a member of SEIA’s Investment Committee, Mark contributes to the firm’s ongoing evaluation of market conditions, investment managers, portfolio strategy, and long-term investment opportunities. He has also shared insights on investor behavior, asset allocation, charitable planning, and the importance of maintaining perspective during changing market and political environments.

Beyond his client work, Mark has helped guide SEIA’s growth and evolution as an independent advisory firm. His perspective as a founding partner includes experience with advisor-practice development, succession planning, ownership, and the operational changes needed to support a growing national firm while maintaining a client-centered culture.

Mark was named to the Financial Times 400 Top Financial Advisers list in 2020 and has been recognized by the Orange County Business Journal as one of the region’s influential business leaders. He is also active in charitable initiatives through the Signature Fund for Giving.

Mark earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from UCLA. He became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional in 1993 after completing the professional education program through the College for Financial Planning. He also holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation and is a licensed insurance agent, California Insurance License #0750414.

Mark lives in Orange County, California, with his wife and four children.
